Morning Routines of Women Who Just Get It

Morning Routines of Women Who Just Get It

There’s something about a woman who has her morning routine down. She’s not necessarily a 5am runner or green juice girl (unless that’s her thing). But she knows how to ease into the day with a little bit of rhythm, a little bit of self-respect, and a whole lot of main character energy.

We spent some time collecting the rituals and non-negotiables from women who always seem to look put together, even when they claim they just “threw something on.” Here’s what they swear by, and how you can steal their secrets.

They don’t check their phone first

The women who walk into a room like they own it? They’re not waking up and diving straight into the group chat chaos or that one passive-aggressive work email. They stretch. They breathe. They take a moment before giving their energy away. Some journal, some make coffee in silence, some just lie there thinking about their day in peace. It’s the calm before the scroll - you time before anything.

SPF before anything

There’s no glow without protection. Every single one of them mentioned SPF — rain, shine, weekday, weekend. The favorites? Ultra Violette, Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face, and Bondi Sands Daily Moisturiser with SPF 50. It’s not about being high-maintenance. It’s about knowing what your skin needs and actually doing it.

They pick one “feel good” step

It could be a spritz of perfume, a swipe of lip tint, or throwing on a matching set even if they’re just working from the kitchen bench. It’s not about impressing anyone — it’s about feeling like themselves. One said she always puts earrings on before her first Zoom call. Another does her brows and leaves everything else bare. There’s a little ritual in choosing how you show up.

Coffee, but romanticised

It’s not just caffeine. It’s a mug that feels good in your hand, a moment to pause before the emails start. Whether it’s an oat cap from the corner cafe or instant coffee with cinnamon sprinkled in, there’s intention in it. One woman told us she lights a candle while her kettle boils. It's not about what you drink, it’s how it makes you feel. Do you take your coffee before you start your day or after you've done your first few tasks of the morning? Try something new (if time permits!)

They plan outfits around a mood, not a rule

The best-dressed women don’t panic in front of their closet because they’re not dressing for trends, they’re dressing for their energy. One looks at her calendar and picks a vibe; productive, chill, creative, chaos and builds a look from there. Even if it’s just bike shorts and a shirt tied at the waist, there’s purpose behind it.

They romanticise the boring bits

Making the bed? A fresh linen mist and five pillows stacked just right. Packing lunch? Chopped fruit in a cute container. They don’t necessarily have more time, they just find joy in the tiny details. It’s not always a slow, aesthetic morning. But they know how to carve out little moments that feel like self-care, even if it’s just opening the blinds and letting the sun hit their face. I like to open the blinds first thing in the morning; this also stops me from wanting to nap later in the day.
